We are almost there, close to Mexico’s Independence Day. This was a time of great change and triumph, a time where we took back what was originally ours. It is nice knowing that we (as a country) have undergone many life changing events.
We, as women have also gone through many. We are currently going through one. One which is a battle led by Mexican woman, fighting for their safety, our safety, the one that was originally ours. One which doesn’t involve foreigners, but we’re hoping it has an impact in all places of the world. One of the most important battles we are ever going to have. One where we are not taking no for an answer. One where we are just fighting for what’s fair and right. One which we will fight until we’re heard. One where we will destroy whatever we have to in order to ensure our safety. One where we hope people realize destruction is a cry for help. One we hope it ends soon because violence towards women ended. One that even if you don’t understand, we hope you respect.
So make sure that when change is needed, you’re not looking the other way. Ensure that wherever you are, women are safe, respected and treated as they deserve. And if you see something is wrong, it is your responsibility to fight to make change happen. Teach yourself, your daughters, sisters, friends, mother to fight for their right, your right, our right. Because change starts with oneself.
In Mexico, people have repetitively proved they are willing to fight for what‘s right. A country where women fight for what they believe in, is always a country where I would like to live in. Make life your country. Make “right” the way to live.
